From the first of July the new vehicle road tax will be based on its level of CO2 emissions.
The new Motor Tax rates will be as follow:

Great News!
New cars purchased between Jan. 08 and July 08:
Customers buying vehicles qualifying for a lower Road Tax in July will benefit from the new rate on the first renewal of their Road Tax.
Used cars bought before July 08:
Used vehicles purchased before the 1st July 08 will not be affected by the new regime. There is, however one exception: vehicles over 225g/km will be subject to the new emissions based Road Tax.
